I started my playing career aged 11 on cornet, joining Point of Ayr junior band in 1983. In 1988 I moved up to the senior band on 3rd cornet and was lucky enough to play under conductors such as Dave King and Gary Cutt.
In 1989 I moved to Crewe to undertake teacher training where I joined the Cheshire Constabulary band on principal cornet. It was there I met my future husband Dave who was then with the band on solo horn for the band.
After two happy years I moved, with Dave, to the Roberts Bakery band where I remained for the next 13 years. During my time at Roberts I was lucky enough to play on 6 recordings.
After 4 years retirement to I was lured back to playing by Dave who by then was conducting the Police band.
