If you have any comments about the band or indeed this site, why not leave a message on our Cheshire Police Band Guest Book.
The Band of the Cheshire Constabulary was formed in 1967. In our history, we have performed at many prestigious venues, including numerous civil occasions, and the honour of playing at Royal events.
In common with most other bands, players perform entirely in their own free time, and are all proud to represent the Cheshire Constabulary. It's a common ( though understandable) misconception that the members of the band work within the Police Service. Whilst some do, most of our players come from all walks of life.
The Band is a ‘Traditional
Brass Band’ with a wide concert repertoire. We are also proud to boast
our own Drum Corps who not only lead the band on parades and ceremonial occasions
but perform with the band in concerts, and attend events in their own right.
The band is primarily a concert band, and proud to be so. That said in 2008 the band returned to the contest stage after a long absence. We soon made an impact gaining promotion to the third section within 2 years and in doing so qualifying for the 2009 & 2010 National Brass Band Championship Finals. In 2013 we were further promoted to the second section and we are to once again appear at the National finals in 2016. The band and especially its Corps of Drums has also spread its wings of late, undertaking (self funded) visits to the wonderful European Brass and Wind Band festival in Schlema, Germany, in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
In 2013 the recorded
its first CD and a further recording is due for release in summer 2016.
The band performs numerous performances each and every year in and around Cheshire but we also continue to be in demand abroad. This year is no exception and in October we travel to Ellmau Austria. In addition to their many UK appearences our Corps of Drums have also supported Commemorative events in Normandy, Ypres and more recently, Leiden Holland.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit to our Website. We like to publish examples of the many kind comments that we receive elsewhere. Take a look at what others have to say about the band. Letters of thanks .
It's also really good to receive comments about the band so why not leave a message on our Guest Book. Thank you.
The band appears by kind permission of the Chief Constable Mr Simon Byrne
